New Hampshire State Representative Jenn Coffey, last year’s winner of the inaugural Knife Rights Freedom’s Edgeâ„¢ award given to honor her efforts which led to repeal of New Hampshire restrictions on switchblades, has introduced a Knife Rights backed Knife Law Preemption bill in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. Rep. Coffey’s bill simply adds “and knives” in three places to the existing New Hampshire firearms preemption law.
Maine Bill Would Allow One-Armed Exception for Switchblades
Maine State Representative Sheryl Briggs has introduced a bill entitled “An Act to Allow a Person With One Arm to Possess Certain Kinds of Prohibited Knives.” The bill would provide an exception to Maine’s “dangerous knives” law, which restricts switchblades and bring the state law into conformity with that exception provided in the Federal Switchblade Act. Maine is one of the very few states which don’t already include such an exception. Knife Rights is assisting Rep. Briggs in her effort. While hardly a huge leap in freedom, even baby steps move the cause forward and sometimes evolve into bigger changes with guidance and support. Stay tuned…
